THE LAW OF ATTRACTION + PRIVILEGE

The picture below *kissy chef hands* is the perfect illustration of the tension some of us can feel between Law of Attraction peddlers/believers and those spruiking intersectionality; it’s almost as if you can't do both. But is that true?
⠀
Manifestation is a word that’s crept into the vocabulary of every second millennial. And while it can be broadly defined as “bringing something into your reality by via your thoughts and beliefs”, it’s much more than that—and it’s more complicated too. 🧲⠀

While the Law of Attraction, as it’s known, has been written about since the 19th century, it’s only in the last decade or two that it’s begun to be critiqued vis a vis the social privilege held by many of its most successful promoters. 💵⠀
⠀
Is manifestation something convenient for the affluent, and irrelevant/unrealistic for the rest of us? Or can the LoA offer manifestation universally, without denying or bypassing the existence of inequality? 🌬⠀
⠀
This is the question we’re exploring on Beyond Belief this week and my guest is the forever impressive Aaron Rose. Aaron is a new paradigm spiritual teacher, a transformational coach for public figures, an inclusive culture consultant, and a motivational speaker (you have to see it to believe it) committed to both “changing and enjoying the world at the same time.” 🌏⠀
⠀
This episode covers a lot of ground—from manifestation guilt, the disconnect (or not) between the concept of abundance and systemic change, and what it really means to envision and embody a better world. ⠀
